We opened our Sandspit location in 2004 to better serve the boating community on Haida Gwaii. We recognized that boaters in remote coastal communities need local access to quality marine products and reliable service, without the hassle of shipping delays or travelling long distances for basic repairs. Our Beach Road facility brings the same expertise and commitment we have built over decades to one of BC’s most beautiful and isolated regions. Whether you are a commercial fisherman, a charter operator or a weekend boater based on Moresby or Graham Island, our Sandspit team can handle the work locally rather than sending your boat or your parts order across the strait.
We stock the parts island boaters need most often, but if we do need to bring something in from the mainland, plan on roughly one to two weeks depending on freight schedules and ferry sailings. We will always give you a realistic timeline before you commit to an order.
Yes. Our Sandspit location works on both commercial vessels and pleasure boats, and we understand that a commercial boat sitting idle during an opening has a real cost, so we prioritize getting working boats back on the water.
Our mobile marine service covers Sandspit and the surrounding Haida Gwaii communities, including boats moored at Alliford Bay or working out of Skidegate. We schedule around tides and ferry crossings so we can reach you with the right tools on board.
Given the wind and exposure our coast sees through the storm season, we recommend proper winterization and secured storage rather than leaving a boat uncovered at a mooring. We handle the winterization and offer storage so your boat and engine are protected until spring.
We carry Mercury parts and outboards at our Sandspit location specifically so boaters here are not waiting on inventory from our other branches. If something specific is not on our shelf, we can usually source it faster through our existing supply chain than a general mainland order.
It depends on the age and condition of your current motor, but a tired outboard is more likely to leave you stranded on an open crossing than on a short calm-water run. We look at your actual use of the water here before recommending a repower over continued maintenance.
Yes, our inventory includes aluminum boats and trailers chosen for the rockier launches and exposed water conditions common around Haida Gwaii, and we help match a hull to how you plan to use it.
